2nd International Conference on Business and Management (ICBM 2019)

With over 300 participants, including about 40 foreign delegates, and a total of 260 papers submissions, Brac Business School (BBS), Brac University successfully organized the 2nd International Conference on Business & Management (ICBM 2019) on 25 to 27 April, 2019 at The Westin, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The theme of the conference is “Industry Focused Global Research Trends in Business and Management”. This is the first time, QR (Quick Response) Code was applied for the registration purpose which produced a smooth and speedy registration process.

After the huge success of the first edition of ICBM in 2017, this year’s conference brought together academicians and renowned industrialists from all over the country and abroad under one roof. This conference was full of distinguished academicians, international dignitaries, business leaders, young scholars, and other participants. Foreign delegates from various continents of several countries, particularly Canada, Sweden, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, India, Nigeria, China, UK.

The three days event included the PhD Colloquium and Paper Producing Workshop on Day 1 followed by keynote presentations, academia-industry discussions, session with international journal editors, and paper presentations by the participants and invited guests on Day 2 and 3. The event concluded on the 3rd day with the recognition of the best papers followed by the closing ceremony. It’s noted that about 170 papers of 9 tracks in 24 parallel sessions were presented in 3 days conference. In addition, 3 keynote speeches, 8 invited talks, 9 industry speeches were added values to the conference.

The PhD Colloquium and paper producing workshop demonstrated participants a detailed idea as to how they can start and continue their research, how and what to expect on their journey as a doctoral candidate, and how they can structure their academic papers to suit the needs of the modern day academia.

The keynote presentations, on the other hand, explored various topics in the fields of business, management, and information technology. Speakers from home and abroad shared their thoughts on different ideas and theories related to their respective field of expertise, mesmerizing the audience throughout the sessions while keeping them informed about the latest trends in business and technology at the same time.

Industry talks and Academia-Industry Discussion session reflect different flavor due to deliverables of top industry key persons. The conference also hosted a poster presentation session where the participants displayed their research work through their posters.

Apart from the participants and other invited speakers, the event was overseen by the Vice-Chancellor of Brac University, Prof. Dr Vincent Chang as the Honorary General Chair; Dean of Brac Business School (BBS), Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahboob Rahman as the General Chair; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Md. Mamun Habib from BBS as the Program Chair. The conference was also graced by the presence of Mr K M Khalid MP, State Minister, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh as the Chief Guest on the prize giving and closing ceremony.
